Clearance: NATO Cosmic Top Secret or equivalent
Location: Bydgoszcz, Poland
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree from a nationally recognised university in a relevant discipline with 2 years’ related post-graduate experience, or
• Minimum 6 years’ extensive and progressive relevant experience in lieu of a university degree
• 4+ years’ experience with Cisco routing and switching technologies
• Minimum 2 years’ experience configuring and operating HP Network Automation or equivalent orchestration systems
• Minimum 4 years’ experience configuring and operating Network Monitoring and Event Management systems (Intermapper, Spectrum, HP OpenView, Splunk preferred)
• 4+ years’ experience working within centrally managed network environments
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) qualification
• Proven experience using Incident Management systems such as BMC Remedy
• High level of network, system, and application troubleshooting expertise
• Strong knowledge of communications protocols and practical use of diagnostic test equipment
• Comprehensive understanding of command and control (C2) system principles
• Extensive technical management expertise in C2 management
• Broad knowledge of C2 systems and software maintenance procedures
• Experience conducting site and systems evaluation and inspection
• Experience with IP DiffServ QoS implementation in networks
• Extensive working knowledge of OSPF and BGP (multi-area architectures, BGP confederations, route reflectors)
• Working knowledge of EIGRP and IS-IS routing protocols
• Extensive experience implementing and operating LAN technologies including HSRP, STP, switching, VLANs, DHCP snooping, ARP inspection, and port security
• Extensive experience implementing and operating network authentication and authorisation technologies including Secure ACS 5.x, 802.1x, 802.1ae MACSEC, RADIUS, and TACACS+
• Experience preparing test plans, technical documentation, and Standard Operating Procedures
• Experience working with UNIX and Linux operating systems
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Experience working within international environments comprising military and civilian personnel
• Knowledge of NATO structures, responsibilities, and organisation including ACO and ACT
• Minimum 5 years’ experience maintaining, repairing, modifying, and operating large complex multi-vendor IP communication networks
• General understanding of telecommunications technologies including TDM, ATM, Frame Relay, MPLS, video, voice, and VoIP
• Experience with IPv6 networking technologies and concepts
• Experience with datacentre technologies and virtualised switching platforms such as VMware and Nexus 1000V
• Experience implementing and operating multi-tenancy network environments (VRF/VLAN)
• Experience implementing and operating multicast technologies (IGMP, PIM)
• Experience developing and maintaining scripts using EXPECT, Python, or Perl
• Knowledge and experience with commercial IPSEC encryption solutions including sVTI, SSL VPN, DMVPN, and GETVPN
• Familiarity with Thales TCE 621 family IP cryptographic equipment or equivalent military-grade encryption devices
• Understanding of firewall technologies and concepts
• Understanding of intrusion detection system technologies
• Familiarity with application performance monitoring tools such as Netscout
• Familiarity with performance management principles, metrics, and tools (e.g. MRTG, IPSLA)
• Holding one or more advanced certifications such as CCIE or CCDP
Duties:
• Provide first-level fault resolution for routing and switching elements across sectors, sites, and Service Area routing cells
• Advise on fault diagnosis across NATO sites using management platforms such as HP OpenView, Netscout, and CiscoWorks
• Ensure remote routine maintenance of routing and switching infrastructure across NATO locations
• Coordinate routing and switching centralisation, standardisation, and implementation of best practices with operational sites
• Liaise internally across NCI Agency Service Line infrastructures and externally with partner organisations to resolve faults
• Create, maintain, and update Standard Operating Procedures within the Routing and Switching Cell
• Coordinate and execute configuration activities and test scenario evaluations within the NGCS Reference Facility for routing and network configuration issue resolution
• Design, configure, and maintain routing infrastructures supporting NATO exercises and operational scenarios
• Conduct practical evaluations of network management tools and operational capabilities
• Promote common understanding and effective utilisation of toolsets across centralised and distributed user communities
• Investigate recurring equipment and configuration issues and propose long-term technical solutions
• Coordinate on-site surveys, validation activities, and system acceptance testing within routing infrastructure environments when required
